HP Pavilion 15-n208nr is a modern low-cost 15.6 inch laptop PC that can handle daily things easily with its quad core AMD processor and 8GB memory and even runs those older not very demanding games fluently. It is a manufacture certified and refurbished model with little or no wear and comes with a 90 day warranty that is honoured by HP.

HP Pavilion comes with the quad core AMD A6-5200 (2MB cache) accelerated processor at 2.0GHz without turbo function, 8GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600MHz for great smooth multitasking, 750GB SATA 5400rpm HDD as spacious storage and 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system with its extra user-friendly and familiar functions. The mid-2013 release AMD A6 CPU is similar to the Intel i3-3227U in terms of overall performance and offers decent results in multi-threaded applications. It is more than adequate for usual multimedia, Office applications, net surfing but not really for advanced gaming.

15.6-inch diagonal Active Matrix TFT Color BrightView LED-backlit display with 1366x768 pixels screen resolution and 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio offers decent image quality for entertainment, photo editing and internet browsing but naturally not like an FHD display and the graphics card is an integrated AMD Radeon HD 8400 with up to 4GB total memory (bot not dedicated VRAM and will share the system memory)- it is equivalent of the better versions of Intel HD 4000 or the dedicated Radeon HD 6490M and can run older games smoothly and some of the recent titles at low settings. It has a high definition webcam with integrated microphone with friends and family.

HP Pavilion 15n-208nr 15.6 inch Notebook Review
HP Pavilion looks modern and stylish in black and silver, weighs 5 pounds with measurements of 0.89 x 10.16 x 15.18 inches. It has a comfy keyboard for accurate typing with 10-key numeric pad on the side and a touchpad that supports multiple gestures- optimised for Windows 8.1 OS. Despite being quite slim- at 0.89 inches, it comes with a SuperMulti DVD Burner as well as a variety of connectivity ports such as 2 x USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0 port, Fast Ethernet with RJ-45 (LAN), 802.11bgn wifi wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI port, Multi-format digital media card reader for Secure Digital cards, a Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack and includes 2 memory slots and a 4-cell 2800 mAh lithium ion battery.

Conclusion: HP Pavilion 15-n208nr is a good everyday computer with nice features and specs that you can perform your daily tasks efficiently. What is holding it back from performing better- for running complex software and advanced games at high resolutions is its lower end AMD A6 processor and the integrated graphics card that is more or less like the Intel HD 4000 but both are quite all right for a computer at this price level. We don’t have the info on battery life but our guess would be 5-6 hours, looking at the power consumption of CPU and other factors. You’ll find the 30-day trial of McAfee LiveSafe service but we think that you’ll be OK with the free version of AVG you can download from the internet. Overall it is a good PC with ample storage, good amount of RAM, a DVD drive (as there aren’t many modern laptops that come with it), 2 fast USB 3.0 ports, Bluetooth and HDMI port. Being certified refurbished, it is offered at a much better price than the non-refurbished brand new version and is highly recommended.
