Black HP 15-r063nr is a 15.6 inch touchscreen decent and reliable notebook with a quad core Intel Pentium processor, adequate amounts of memory and hard drive, good range of connectivity including a SuperMulti DVD drive at a budget price. The high definition intuitive capacitive touchscreen functions well and is optimised for Windows 8. Nothing is perfect and this one also has small flaws but for all that you’re getting at a low price, these shouldn’t be considered as ‘lack’ or flaws.

HP 15-r063nr comes with the Intel Pentium N3530 processor at 2.16 GHz speed that can go up to 2.58 GHz- Burst clock speed but no hyper threading, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM system memory for being able to run a few applications with several browsers open simultaneously, 500 GB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm spindle speed with HP ProtectSmart HDD Protection from accidents plus 25GB Cloud based storage from Box for life to get access to your more important files wherever there is internet connection and the 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system that is more familiar for most users with the Windows 7 screen option and Start button with slightly different functions and has improved user-friendly features.

15.6 inch diagonal high definition BrightView WLED-backlit touchscreen display with 1366x768 pixel resolution and Intel HD graphics (Bay Trail) offers image clarity with lively colours but don’t expect it to be like a Full HD screen but it is a display with touch function that is intuitive and responsive. The integrated Intel HD GPU is not suitable for advanced gaming but good enough for an affordable laptop- for watching videos, viewing photos and good overall graphics and it can be compared to the Ivy Bridge Intel HD 4000 graphics card. The webcam is front facing and HD quality TrueVision with the built-in double array digital microphone so you’ll be happy with it on those Skype chats with family and friends.

HP 15-r063nr 15.6 inch Touchscreen Laptop Review
Glossy finish black HP laptop has the dimensions of 14.88 x 10.2 x 1.01 inches and weighs 5.25 pounds so it is fairly light and slim for a touchscreen 15.6 inch laptop and portable enough- it should fit in any regular size backpack easily- good if you’re on the go a lot. You should get around 4 hours of battery life in normal use- even with some multimedia stuff, from its 4-cell 41WHr 2.8Ah lithium ion battery. There is no Bluetooth installed but you’ll find the 802.11b/g/n WLAN wireless, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45 connectivity, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x USB 3.0 port, a SuperMulti DVD burner, Multi-format digital media card reader for Secure Digital cards, an HDMI port and a Headphone/Microphone combo jack.

Conclusion: HP 15-r063nr is a dependable and sturdy touchscreen laptop that is built to last you a while. The system starts up rather quickly and the overall performance appears to be fairly snappy- Pentium N3530 is better than the Intel Atom processors, with up to 2.58 GHz speed and quad core performance. You won’t have any problems with the running Microsoft Word, Excel and other Office applications, Photoshop or some of the other multimedia programs and multitasking- moving between them quickly or running a few things at the same time. Energy efficient Pentium N3530 CPU with a Passmark benchmark score of 1924 and the Intel HD graphics (Bay Trail) just won’t handle the latest 3D games well but you can play the older games like World of warcraft comfortably at low to medium resolutions. Windows 8 can still be a problem for some computer users but definitely a much better experience with the touch display on this computer and the lack of Bluetooth is not a biggie as you can get a USB Bluetooth dongle cheaply with the purchase of this machine. Despite the small flaws it is definitely a great value computer for how much it costs.
