Black chassis HP 15-f004wm is a slim design, simple but reliable PC laptop as part of the HP 15 series with a power efficient Intel Celeron processor with a Thermal Design Power of 7.5 watts, a high definition 15.6 inch display, data protection features, adequate memory and hard drive for daily things and the ability to upgrade them- standard specs and features at a budget price without the bells and whistles, but yes does the job just fine.

HP 15-f004wm has the dual core Intel Celeron N2830 processor (1MB cache) at 2.16GHz speed up to 2.41GHz with Turbo boost and no hyper threading (2 cores and 2 threads), 4GB DDR3 SDRAM system memory (that can be expanded to 8GB by removing the 4GB on single slot) with the ability to handle a good deal of multitasking, 500GB SATA hard drive at 5400 rpm spindle speed that have the capacity to save many photos, music and videos and the 64-bit edition of Microsoft Windows 8.1. Price to performance is pretty good for the 2014 release Celeron N2830 CPU as it will let you perform your basic tasks including light gaming and video streaming well but not complex video editing or 3D gaming.

15.6 inch high definition BrightView WLED-backlit non-touch display with 1366x768 pixel resolution and Intel HD Graphics offer good but standard visuals- it is not a Full HD screen with IPS function so don’t expect anything extraordinary at this price level. The integrated Intel HD graphics for Bay Trail CPU will let you play the older gaming titles that are much less demanding than the current ones and you can also watch movies and view your photos comfortably. Although it doesn’t support 1080p, as it has an HDMI port you can connect it to your HDTV and view your FHD content on the large screen via an appropriate good quality HDMI cable. Sound is fine through the stereo speakers and webcam with integrated microphone is a VGA quality one and will do the job.

Matte black finish HP 15-f004wm is nice enough to look at with its simple design and thin profile so it is not ugly or chunky at all. It weighs 5.05 pounds and measures 10.16 x 15.18 x 0.89 inches- quite portable for when you’re out and about. It comes with a full-size non-backlit keyboard with a 10-key numpad plus a touchpad with proper- separate left and right click buttons which many people prefer. The 3-cell lithium ion battery offers up to 4.5 hours on a single charge. There is no Bluetooth (you can purchase a USB Bluetooth dongle very cheaply) and apart from the HDMI port, you get an SD Memory Card Reader, a SuperMulti DVD Burner despite its slim chassis, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 x USB 2.0 port, 10/100Base-T Ethernet with RJ-45 connectivity, 802.11b/g/n wireless and 1 x Headphone-out/Microphone-in combo and a VGA webcam.

Conclusion: HP 15-f004wm is a modern budget 15.6 inch laptop with pretty standard but adequate features and specs for performing daily tasks efficiently. It is more suitable for students on a budget or anyone that will use the computer mainly for internet, word processing and simple photo, music and video stuff but do not want to spend a lot on a more capable system that will let you play the latest games or run very demanding software. There is nothing wrong with the Celeron N2830 processor or the HD display with Intel HD graphics, battery life is up to 4.5 hours on average use so you can be away from power outlets half the day. We like that it has an optical DVD drive unlike many modern day laptops (including Apple MacBooks) so you can download software or watch content directly from DVDs. Webcam is not HD quality but a VGA and is fine at this price level and you have standard but decent connectivity options including 2 USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port. It comes with a 12 month limited hardware warranty if anything happens within a year. The best thing about this PC is its price and you’re actually getting quite a bit for the price.
