Black ASUS F555LA-AH51 is a 15.6 inch all-rounder laptop with a 4th generation Intel i5 processor, a solid and premium design, Asus quality (often referred to as one of the best computer brands in the world), generous amounts of system memory and hard drive. It is very much suitable for both work and play and is sold at a very reasonable price for the things it has on offer.

The new ASUS F555LA has the dual core ultra low voltage Haswell Intel i5-4210U processor at 1.7 GHz base speed that moves up to 2.7GHz with turbo boost when the tasks at hand require it, 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz for very smooth and efficient multitasking so you can work on several apps, browsers and programs simultaneously without encountering hardly any lags or freezing, 1000 GB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400 rpm rotating speed to give you all the space you need to save all your files and the latest Windows 8.1 operating system and you won’t need to upgrade from Windows 8 and it comes with extra useful and familiar features for those that miss the older Windows 7.

15.6 inch display with a maximum screen resolution of 1366x768 pixels and Intel HD 4400 graphics offer adequately decent picture quality- this is not a Full HD screen with IPS feature for larger viewing angles but good enough at this price level. It doesn’t come with a separate dedicated graphics card so the gaming performance relies on the power of i5-4210U and its integrated GPU of Intel HD 4400, which is up to 30% faster than the standard HD 4000 but slower than the HD 4600 and 5000 and can be compared to the discrete Radeon HD 7550M graphics. You can play older titles fluently in many cases but will need to decrease resolution and settings with the later titles. This is not designed to be a super powerful gaming machine and surely does not have the price for it. As you might guess, for sound you have the Asus SonicMaster that is designed by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower and with the nice stereo speakers, you will hear deep bass and great accurate sound with wider range.

ASUS F555LA-AH51 15.6 inch Intel i5 Laptop, Black Review
Black Asus F555LA with a spun-circle finish and patterned palm rests weighs 5.1 pounds with measurements of 10.10 x 15 x 1 inches so it is fairly slim and lightweight for a 15.6 inch laptop. It is easy and comfortable to carry around- will fit in a standard backpack easily. Keyboard seems to be comfy enough and allows accurate typing with much less errors, has a 10-key numeric pad for more convenient number crunching if you do a lot of numeric data entry and the touchpad is designed to simulate touch display functions thanks to the Smart Gesture technology- pinch, scroll, tap and zoom. It has the DL DVD±RW/CD-RW optical drive and all the other necessary connectivity including 802.11bgn wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, 1 x USB 2.0 port, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, HDMI and more. It comes with a 12 month international warranty and Zero Bright Dot Guarantee for 30 days, as well as 2-way standard shipping free of charge, 12 month Accidental Damage Protection and some of the best customer support in the industry- 24/7 Tech Support.

Conclusion: ASUS F555LA-AH51 is able to handle very demanding tasks and works fast with the processor speed going up to 2.7GHz depending on whatever you’re doing- general multimedia and daily office tasks as well as more demanding stuff, but not really the latest 3D games due to lack of at least a mid-range discrete graphics card. Even when the machine has been on standby for a long time, it will wake up in only 2 seconds thanks to the ASUS Super Hybrid Engine II technology. When the battery level goes below 5%, your data is backed up automatically so you can have that peace of mind. Many people still don’t like the new Windows 8 but at least the Windows 8.1 has the familiar Start screen and Start button as well as some additional user-friendly features. The keyboard is not backlit, screen is not touchscreen and it would be nice to have a dedicated graphics card but none of these can be listed as cons at the price level this laptop is sold and everything else it seems to offer. Highly recommended!
