Apple MacBook MJY42LL/A is the newest 12 inch Retina display laptop that is the slimmest and lightest of Apple in history with its simple singular design, with a generous 512 GB flash drive, a powerful CPU, longer battery life than before, with the colour choices of space grey, silver and gold. It is a solid, sexy looking and functional masterpiece- it wouldn’t be an exaggeration the best looking Macbook up to date so it offers looks, power and portability- it is the most sleek, modern and sophisticated portable computer that we have ever seen.

The new Apple MacBook is offered with a dual core 5th generation Intel Core M 5Y31 processor with 4 MB shared L3 cache at 1.2 GHz with turbo boost that takes the speed up to 2.6 GHz, 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM at 1600MHz and hyper threading with two cores handling four threads in parallel, 512 GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage that is both spacious and very fast (for boot-ups and overall performance) and the latest OS X Yosemite operating system which is known to be the best and the most user friendly operating system on the planet. The system as a whole is capable of handling your daily multimedia, office and more demanding tasks very smoothly.

12 inch mercury-free LED-backlit IPS display 2304 x 1440 pixel resolution (226 pixels per inch), 178 degree vertical and horizontal viewing angles and 16:9 image aspect ratio offers the same Retina experience despite being about 30% more power efficient with redesigned pixels with wider aperture for more light to come through so the sharpness and brigtness are not lost at all. Graphics card is the Intel HD graphics 5300 as the new generation Broadwell GPU and the Intel HD 5300 graphics card being such low power consumption piece, you can only play some of the latest games and at lower settings (if this was a Windows machine- just to give you an idea).

Apple MacBook MJY42LL/A 12-Inch Laptop with Retina Display, 512GB Review
The new 12 inch Macbook has that great expensive and premium feel- more so than the other Apple computers, weighs just 2 pounds and measures 7.74 x 11.04 x 0.52 inches. The full-size keyboard is much thinner than the previous generation Macbook keyboards but much more precise than any laptop keyboard with scissor mechanism due to its special design using the butterfly mechanism and also has the responsive and functional Force Touch Trackpad. There is no optical drive and only a single USB-C port, an Audio-Out port, faster with better coverage 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth 4.0. The Lithium Polymer (LiPo) offers outstanding battery life of up to 9 hours in both theory and in practice and this will naturally depend on what you do on the computer- browsing the internet, word processing, working on spreadsheets, listening to music or streaming videos.

Conclusion: The new Apple MacBook is a stunning piece of art that is even more beautiful than before and is far from being a low end laptop that some people would like to think. It has a fan-less design thanks to the late 2014 release Intel Core M processor having only 5 watts of power usage and despite being made of much smaller components power and performance are not compromised at all- quite the contrary actually it feels faster and more efficient in regular daily or advanced tasks but not the modern demanding games and you would probably be aware that advanced gaming is not Apple computers’ priority and for a lot more demanding tasks like multimedia editing we’d advise you to get a Macbook Pro or iMac desktop.

Quite interestingly it comes with a single dynamic universal USB-C port that offers a different and unique way to connect to your peripherals and supports DisplayPort, VGA and HDMI ports. The LED-backlit display is free from mercury and display glass is arsenic-free, you’ll find that it is extremely energy efficient (Energy Star 6.1 qualified) and rather friendly to the environment. The new Macbook doesn’t have the MagSafe power connection of the other macbook models anymore but the innovative USB-C port that should soon become an industry standard. It is wonderful in one word and if you are not going to be running super complex multimedia and engineering programs and want something super pretty, durable, portable, powerful enough for anything other than gaming and media editing stuff then yes it is a great value computer.
