Pros & Cons:
Pros: Reliable - Fast - Build quality - Light and slim - Stylish modern design - Sharp images - Large keyboard - Low price

Cons: Battery life could be longer - Smaller touchpad because of large keyboard (lack of space on an 11.6" model)

The emphasis with Acer Aspire V5 -131- 2629 model is on being light and slim with a low price tag. It is not the most powerful or the fastest machine but it will more than meet your expectations for a budget laptop.

Acer Aspire V5-131-2629 model comes with a 1.5GHz Intel Celeron 1007U processor and 4GB DDR3 memory. It is fast, responsive, powerful and efficient for the price. Remember this is a light ultraportable and it performs better than most in this group in the market. And 500 GB gives you plenty of storage space and fast read / write times.

The laptop and the materials inside are well made and solid. Although not in the upmarket range, this is a nice looking silver metallic machine with silver plastic interior and an aluminium-like plastic lid, silver again. Acer seems to like this color and it does look good.

Glossy LCD HD CineCrystal display with sharp and clear images as it offers 1366 x 768 resolution on a small 11.6" screen. It is nice watching a movie on this bright screen with glossy reflective coating. Screen is not the best in different viewing angles though.

External speakers or headphones will give you a better experience with this Acer V5 laptop. As you'd expect from a laptop in this range, speakers are not really big but sufficient.

Acer V5 has a wide black chiclet keyboard with a numeric keypad- as large as a 13.3" model, even better than many 13 inchers and keys are smooth to the touch. Touchpad is on the smaller side for a laptop with a large keyboard, but it is adequate. Remember this is a budget 11.6" laptop.

Acer Aspire V5-131-2629 is one of the most portable laptops in the market with its 3.3 pound weight, 11.6" screen and slim design. It is light and slim!

It comes with a four-cell battery and lasts up to 4.5 hours in light use and up to 2 hours in heavier use.

Connectivity: Two USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, Bluetooth 4.0 HS, microphone - headphone jack, VGA/Ethernet combo, HDMI.

You will find many pre-installed software and you may want to uninstall those you won't need, such as Mc Afee security. We like AVG Free version better than McAfee as it tends to be a lot less annoying. Acer V5 runs on Windows 7 operating system.

Conclusion: Acer has been one of the prominent producers of Ultrabooks since they first appeared in the market and it looks like Ultrabooks have been their main focus. However, Acer as one of the largest computer manufacturers for a while, has certainly not given up on the laptop market and still offers good quality and a great variety of products in this line.

Although Acer Aspire V5-131-2629 has the hardware of an ultrabook, it is not classified as one as it probably doesn't include an SSD (Solid-State Drive). It is light and slim, fast, responsive and powerful enough with good build-quality, offers a bright screen and sharp images, has a large user friendly keyboard and It costs much less than an Ultrabook although it looks like one.
