Diamond black Acer Aspire ES1-111M-C40S is an 11.6 inch laptop with a simple yet stylish and modern design for on the go computing, wih its entry level Intel Celeron processor with improved performance and power efficiency (Thermal Design Power of only 7.5 watts) over the previous Intel Atom's and Solid State Drive rather than standard HDD for snappy performance and Acer’s Build Your Own Cloud- BYOC that gives you the flexibility of your Cloud storage size on your own device.

Acer Aspire ES1 comes with the dual core Intel Celeron N2840 processor (1 MB Cache) at 2.16 GHz speed up to 2.58GHz with turbo boost but without hyperthreading, 2 GB DDR3L SDRAM memory with a maximum capacity of 8 GB, 32 GB Flash drive plus Cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive with 100GB capacity that lets you have access and 64-bit Windows 8.1 operating system with Bing and more familiar Start screen and button for those that dislike the new Win 8. It is good enough for usual daly things like watching videos, using social media and web browsing and working on Microsoft Office.

11.6 inch high definition ComfyView LED-backlit Active Matrix TFT Color LCD with 1366 x 768 pixel max screen resolution, 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio and Intel HD Graphics offer decent image quality and some light gaming performance- you can play the older games comfortably but not the most current ones at higher settings as neither the Celeron CPU nor the integrated graphics card is adequate for gaming. You have two integrated stereo speakers and High Definition Audio Support and Acer Crystal Eye high definition webcam with integrated microphone for live chats on Skype. If the 11.6 inch screen feels small, you can always connect your PC to your HDTV to watch your videos on larger screen. It has a fanless design and works very quietly and stays cool to the touch even after hours of operation.

Smooth finish diamond black Acer Aspire with FlowCurve clean and simple design with a textured finish weighs 2.84 pounds with measurements of 11.46 x 9.31 x 0.83 inches- slim and lightweight (will fit in any bag easily) and has a much more premium look than how much it costs. Keyboard is full-size without a numeric pad but with a functional Acer Precision touchpad to use with Windows 8 functions- comfy typing and intuitive navigation and compares easily to a 13.3 inch laptop keyboard. The 3-cell lithium ion battery (2640mAh) offers up to 5 hours of battery life on a single charge in average use. There is no optical DVD drive but modern day connectivity options like Bluetooth 4.0, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port with HDCP support, Acer Nplify 802.11b/G/N, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45, a USB 2.0 port and Digital Memory Card Reader - Secure Digital (SD) Card.

Conclusion: Acer Aspire ES1-111M-C40S is a good little budget laptop PC that looks modern, is very portable, performs well in daily tasks- internet, word processing, basic photo editing, viewing videos, playing light games but is not for operating very complex engineering software or playing the latest games but the less demanding games will run fluently. 2GB system memory is not a lot but provides adequate multitasking at this level and can be upgraded to a maximum of 8GB if you wish better multitasking performance. Even if only 32GB, it is certainly better to have the SSD than the traditional HDD for faster performance overall and faster boot-ups as you already have the Cloud based storage and you can choose to connect an external hard drive- get one cheaply if you have a lot of files to store. Lack of DVD drive shouldn't be an issue for majority of people these days and you probably wouldn't expect it on such a slim and light 11 inch notebook.. Great price for a great entry level small PC and if you're on a budget and want something powerful yet performs well in simple tasks, it is definitely worth checking out.
