And you can see the alternatives for this purple Lenovo on the Amazon product page, including the red color of the same model, black 14” Full HD with A6-9220C, 4GB RAM & 64GB eMMC and the 15.6” HD with A9-9425 CPU, 4GB RAM & 128GB SSD. Please see the Amazon product page for the price differences- about a 100 to 200 dollars.
The quarter 2 of 2018 release dual-core AMD A9-9425 processor is good for the not so demanding applications with its acceptable level of performance and a PassMark benchmark score of 2445. It works at speeds between 3.1GHz and 3.7GHz and the TDP- Thermal Design Power of 15 watts helps with the longer battery life of the 2-cell lithium ion battery. 8GB DDR4 SDRAM offers plenty of multitasking power at this low price level. And the 256GB SSD is a good amount for saving your regular and media files and offers many times more speed than a regular HDD hard drive.
15.6” high definition energy-efficient LED-backlit non-touch display has the 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and a TN panel. It is not as clear or vivid as a Full HD display but is just fine at the lower price point. Connectivity options include the DVD-RW Optical Drive, 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth, 10/100 Ethernet, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI output, a Headphone/Mic Jack combo and a Media Card Reader. The built-in graphics card is the Radeon R5 M230 with a performance level above the Intel HD 4600 and below NVIDIA 820M and with a video card benchmark score of only 566. This is not a gaming machine and you can only play the simple games at reasonable resolutions and settings.
Win 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed on this laptop and boots up faster than before. If you get the Windows 10 in the more limited S mode it means it has the added security, speed and stability and you can only install apps from the Microsoft store and only use the Edge browser. And you can disable the S mode to switch to the Win 10 Home through the Settings by going to the Store. If you want to transfer files from your old laptop to this one, you can do it with a USB flash drive. Lenovo IdeaPad 15.6” weighs 4.63 pounds and measures 14.80W x 10Dx 0.90H inches- is 0.9” thick.
At a low price level you can use it for web browsing, checking your emails, Microsoft Word and Excel, watching videos and more. Both the 8GB memory and the 256GB SSD make a difference in the overall performance of this machine. It boots up in seconds and you can open files very quickly. There is a 0.3mp webcam on the top bezel and it is not the best for live Skype chats. It is also nice not having to pay for an external DVD Drive even though they are cheap. The Lenovo IdeaPad seems to be well worth the price if you are on a budget and want the most for your limited amount of money. The overall performance is good for students, home use and office stuff, rather than gaming and multimedia editing.
