Asus Flagship X555LA is a beginning of 2016 release 15.6 inch decent performance and sturdy flagship laptop with a dual core Broadwell Intel i3-5020U processor (3MB cache) at 2.2GHz speed with hyper threading for handling two cores and four threads, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1600MHz for smooth and efficient multitasking with only a few hiccups when handling heavy or lots of stuff, 1TB Serial ATA HDD hard drive at 5400rpm spindle speed, integrated Cloud support for Dropbox and 64-bit Windows 10 operating system with the new Edge browser, Cortona Digital Assistant and Win 7 type start screen. Glossy warm golden gradient finish black Asus X555LA looks modern and elegant, has a sturdy build and looks more expensive than it is, weighs just over 5 pounds and measures 15.04 x 10.08 x 1.02 inches- average weight and thickness despite not having a touch display so it is not for those on the go a lot.

Connectivity options are the SuperMulti DVD/CD Drive for reading and writing to different formats, 802.11bgn wireless, Gigabit Ethernet LAN for wired internet access, SD and SDHC compatible Media Card Reader for transferring photos etc., an HDMI output for more viewing options on a larger HDTV screen, a VGA port, Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack, a USB 3.0 port and 2 x USB 2.0 ports. Webcam is a 0.3 megapixel OK quality one for casual use for Skype chats with friends and family and includes a built-in microphone and the speakers are nice and loud with a bit of bass. There is no integrated Bluetooth but you can easily get a cheap USB dongle with the purchase of this PC. 15.6 inch high definition LED-backlit non-touch display with 1366x768 pixel resolution and Intel HD graphics 5500 that performs better than Intel HD 4400 and 5000 and you can play both the older titles at high settings and newer titles at low settings. Early 2015 release Intel i3-5020U has the Passmark benchmark score of 3169 which means it is a high to mid-range processor that is very capable for daily and more complex stuff but because it lacks the turbo boost function performance for single thread is a little low.

4GB is not a lot of memory but is adequate for multitasking of daily tasks to smoothly run several browsers and apps at this price point and 1TB is a lot of storage space for saving lots of music, digital photos, high definition videos and DVD movies. It comes with just a 2-cell polymer battery but the processor is the ultra low voltage variety offering energy efficiency with a TDP of 15 watts so battery life is around 6 hours on average use and has a chiclet style ergonomic keyboard for comfy typing and Clickpad with smart gesture support. Asus is one of the top computer brands with happy customers worldwide and although this is a low cost machine it comes with decent mid-range specs and there aren’t any major cons we can point out if you will be using it for daily use for students and to be used for both home entertainment and businesses and it can easily handle multimedia and office- multitasking and demanding apps. This is quite a good deal for the price level and 4GB memory would be adequate for most users’ needs as it runs quite smoothly and you can upgrade it to up to 12GB but the whole bottom part needs to be dismantled but It includes a 1 year warranty for parts and labor by Asus, which is a very reliable manufacturer.
