Late 2019 release black Dell Inspiron i3583 is a 15.6-inch high definition touchscreen laptop with an 8th generation Intel i5 processor, 8GB memory, 256GB SSD, Windows 10 Home in S mode,  good connectivity options, decent sound through the Waves MaxxAudio Pro and more.

You also have the option to purchase the i3567 model with the dual core Intel i5-7200U processor. Quarter 2 of 2018 release quad core, eight way Intel i5-8265U is a high-end processor with a Passmark benchmark score of 8010. It has a base speed of 1.6GHz and up to 3.9GHz with the turbo boost. The typical thermal design power- TDP is 15 watts for this powerful ultra low voltage CPU for a longer battery life from its 3-cell lithium ion battery.

8GB DDR4 SDRAM is a reasonable amount of memory to let you have a few browsers and apps open without any lagging. 256GB Solid State Drive (PCI-e) is good for opening your files very quickly and gives you a good size storage space. Windows 10 Home S mode on this Dell Inspiron is designed for performance and security, wants you to use Edge browser and lets you download applications only from the Microsoft Store, to offer you enhanced security. You can certainly switch out of S mode without paying anything. But please note that you can not go back to the S mode once out.

15.6-inch LED-backlit HD touchscreen has the 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, which is not as clear as the FHD resolution. Intel UHD 620 is the built-in graphics card is somewhere between the GeForce 910M and 920M dedicated cards and lets you play the less demanding, casual games comfortably. The video card benchmark score is 1072 at the moment as a mid-range GPU. Sound quality is reasonable at this price level through the built-in stereo speakers and the Waves MaxxAudio Pro. There is also a high definition built-in webcam with microphone for Skype chats or taking photos.

Black Dell Inspiron i3583 weighs 4.41 pounds and measures 15 x 10.2 x 0.8 inches, is only 0.8 inches thick. Keyboard is not backlit but has a numeric keypad on the right, along with a responsive touchpad. For connectivity it doesn’t come with a DVD Optical Drive but has the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, Ethernet 10/100, HDMI output, SD Dell Inspiron i3583 15.6 HD Touch-Screen KeyboardMedia Card Reader, a USB 2.0 port, 2 x USB 3.0 Type A ports and a headphone/microphone combo jack. It comes with a bit of bloatware that you may want to uninstall before starting to use it. So the set-up process may be a little longer than normal.

Many of the negative reviews and ratings on the Amazon product page seems to be about the lack of DVD Drive, which was advertised before. The lack is now obvious in the product photos and description. Otherwise it is quite a decent touchscreen laptop with performance, speed and multitasking power. Overall it is a very good value machine with a touchscreen at the current price level. And they can always connect an external drive through one of the USB ports or Bluetooth. DVD Drives are sold quite cheaply at Amazon.com. You’ll also get a 30-day trial for Microsoft Office and McAfee which you can pay for the license and continue to use afterwards.
