Toshiba Satellite C55-B5246 is a C50 series solid performing good value 15.6 inch laptop with an Ivy Bridge Intel i3 processor, adequate amounts of memory and hard drive and great connectivity, that is designed for anything one may do on a computer on a daily basis at work or home- surfing the internet, social media, word processing, spreadsheets, creating slides and presentations, photo editing and playing lighter games.

Toshiba Satellite comes with the dual core Intel i3-3217U processor (3M Cache) at 1.8 GHz speed (no turbo boost), 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM, 500 GB SATA at 5400 rpm rotating speed hard drive and Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system. Fast and powerful i3 CPU is an ultra low voltage one that is designed for use in ultra books and has the hyper threading function with two cores handling 4 threads so it will help you perform your daily work smoothly and efficiently with also the 4GB RAM which is plenty for a computer at this level and will enable easy multitasking. Although 500GB may seem standard, it is quite a bit of storage space for most people to save their regular and multimedia files- we’re talking about 263 hours of HD video, 142,000 songs or 333,000 photos.

Large 15.6 inch diagonal HD TruBrite TFT widescreen with 16:9 aspect ratio has the max screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and Mobile Intel HD graphics 4000 with shared graphics memory with performance comparable to an AMD Radeon HD 6620G discrete graphics card, which is quite all right for the usual photo viewing and editing, movie watching and some gaming. Just don’t expect to play the advanced games at higher resolutions and settings though but you’ll be fine with the older titles at high and some new titles at low. This is an everyday notebook PC with very decent sound quality with DTS and Skullcandy getting the best performance out of the dual stereo speakers- loud and clear- free of distortion at its loudest sound with deep bass and improved dialogues. You may also connect with your friends and family with its built-in HD webcam with internal microphone on Skype.

It has a standard but comfy to type on US keyboard with a 10-key numeric pad and a touchpad with multi-touch control, a 4-cell lithium ion battery, a DVD SuperMulti drive that allows you to read and write in 11 formats and watch videos from DVDs, 802.11bgn wireless, 10/100Mbps Gigabit Ethernet 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x USB 3.0 port, 6-in-1 Memory Card Reader, 1 x Headphone output/microphone input, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x VGA port and a Security Cable Lock Slot so connecting with your other devices is quick and easy thanks to the important connectivity ports being covered.

Conclusion: Toshiba Satellite C55-B5246 is a budget full-size laptop PC that looks good, performs well and comes with decent specs and features for use by students, home office workers and families. The keyboard is not backlit, screen is non-touch and there is no Bluetooth but it comes with a DVD drive (which means increased functionality for those that need it and slightly increased weight of the laptop) and all the other modern day connectivity options. 30-day trial versions of both the Microsoft Office Suite and Norton Antivirus programs are included and it comes with a 12 month limited parts and labor warranty by the manufacturer. You can do pretty much anything on it other than running the very demanding software and playing the latest games at higher settings, with its Ivy Bridge Intel i3 processor and 4GB memory. Definitely a great value computer for those on a budget that want the most for how much they spend.
