The seventh generation dual core Intel m3-7Y30 mobile processor (4M cache) at the speeds between 1.0Ghz and 2.6Ghz runs 2 cores and 4 threads in parallel for a decent HD performance. The PassMark benchmark score is 2760 and the typical Thermal Design Power is 4.5 watts for much less energy consumption. It is powerful enough for your daily tasks for work and play, entry level gaming and adequate multitasking power.
4GB of system memory is not a large amount but should be sufficient for running some browser tabs and apps simultaneously. It is nice to have a fast, high performance Solid State Drive as local storage instead of a regular HDD. You’ll have quicker and quieter access to your data and files, and quicker start-ups and shut-downs. Again the 128GB size is not a lot for a local storage space but will be fine if you don’t have many multimedia files to save. And you will probably be relying more on Cloud storage to access your files wherever you have internet access. It is also much less of a burden on the battery (which lasts up to 14.5 hours) than a standard hard drive and less heat will be generated.
The 13.5-inch PixelSense display supports the 10-point multi-touch and offers very good picture quality with a super sharp resolution for your videos, photos or web pages. Intel HD 615 is the built-in graphics card that shares the memory with the main processor and offers an entry level performance for your day-to-day graphics needs for browsing the internet, streaming videos and playing basic games. This is not really a gaming machine after all and you can probably play some 
modern games at very low settings and resolutions. It has a built-in 720p HD webcam with a stereo microphone for your Skype chats or taking photos.
Platinum Microsoft Surface 13.5″ Laptop weighs only 2.76 pounds with the measurements of 12.13 x 8.79 x 0.57 inches- is compact, lightweight and portable. The keyboard is comfortable to type on with the decent key travel and a responsive touchpad but is not backlit. Please note that this is a conventional laptop without the detachable keyboard of the Surface Pro series. It is very easy to switch from the Windows S mode to the regular Home version through the Windows Start menu that takes you to the relevant page on Microsoft Store. But once you’ve done the transfer from S, there is no going back. At the current price level it is a good value modern laptop with an aluminum chassis, a modern mobile processor, good connectivity, very long battery life and SSD.
