Black Lenovo Flex 2 15 (59413546) is a Full HD- 1080p 15.6 inch touchscreen dual mode laptop that can be flipped 300 degrees to make it sit on the keyboard and watch movies or work on more touch heavy apps in its stand mode. It is affordable and great for both work and fun, especially when you’re out and about. In terms of performance you’re getting good value from its Haswell i5 processor and 8GB memory. As powerful machine that can be used in dual- laptop and stand modes, they had to save money on some aspects to make it a budget- affordable PC.

Lenovo Flex 2 comes with a 4th generation dual core Intel i5-4210U processor at 1.7 GHz to 2.7GHz speed with turbo boost and hyper threading- four threads in parallel are handled by two cores, 8 GB DDR3 RAM for great multitasking, 1 TB hard drive at 5400 rpm rotating speed and Windows 8.1 operating system.. The CPU is a very low voltage one despite its snappy and powerful performance and was released in quarter 2 of 2014. Hyper threading ensures better usage of CPU at fuller capacity and with turbo boost function speed is increased to 2.7GHz when the tasks require it or stay at 1.7 for saving on power.

15.6 inch touch display with 1920x1080 pixels max screen resolution offers colourful, sharp and clear picture quality but it is not free from glares. The integrated Intel HD 4400 graphics is adequate for a lot of multimedia stuff but not so much the latest games at high resolutions as you’d need at least a medium level dedicated graphics card for that. Sound quality is decent through the stereo speakers and has a HD webcam with a built-in microphone for live Skype chats. The backlit keyboard feels soft to touch and touchpad can be too sensitive while you’re typing and read gestures from your wrist. Trackpad doesn’t sit flush with the rest of the design and it is a bit hard to left or right click.

Lightweight and slim Lenovo Flex 2 weighs 5.5 pounds with measurements of 10.87 x 1.06 x 15.04 inches. It has a sleek all black look rather than that of the orange siding of the previous Lenovo Flex, but is now offered with more plastic than before (palm rests and keyboard area was aluminium) to make it lighter and you'll find more fans on the left side. It looks smaller than it actually is, in black colour and with its tapered design. Battery life is reported to be around 7 hours in average use from its lithium ion battery. Some of its connectivity options include 802.11bgn wireless, collapsible Ethernet port, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x USB 3.0 port, a slim DVDRW optical drive, an HDMI port and an SD Card Reader.

Conclusion: Lenovo Flex 2 15 (59413546) is powerful enough to handle a a variety of school, office and multimedia tasks- photo and video editing and many demanding applications and more advanced games but not at high settings as the performance of the Intel HD 4400 is somewhere between Intel HD 4000 and 5000. We could say the trackpad and keyboard are Flex 2’s weaker points and the 300 degree flipping 1920x1080 pixel resolution touch display and the Intel i5 and RAM capacity at 8GB along with the large storage space are its stronger points. It doesn’t have a very premium feel though as they had to save money on certain things to come up with a budget dual mode laptop. Flex 2 is reported to come with quite a bit of bloatware but we haven’t had a chance to check the machine so if it does, you can just remove those that you don’t need for better performance and speed. It is offered with a great price for a dual mode powerful Intel i5 PC with FHD touchscreen with accurate and vibrant colours.
