HP Pavilion 15-EC0013DX 15.6″ FHD Gaming Laptop
HP Pavillion 15-EC0013DX is a 15.6” FHD entry-level gaming laptop with mid-range to high-end features and specs at a very affordable price.The main technical specs include the AMD Ryzen 5 3550H processor, 8GB memory, 256GB SSD and Windows 10 operating system.
Quarter one of 2019 release AMD Ryzen 5 3550H (6 MB cache) runs at a base speed of 2.1GHz up to 3.7GHz with the turbo boost function. It has a decent Passmark benchmark score of 8328 at the time of this review as a high end processor. Typical TDP is 35 watts for this processor and the 3-cell, 52.5 Wh lithium ion battery can last up to 7-8 hours when you’re not gaming and this will be much shorter during gaming.
8GB DDR4 RAM is more than enough for being able to run a few tasks at once- multitask seamlessly without any delays. There is an additional RAM slot and you can add another 8GB memory stick to reach a total of 16GB. 256GB Solid State Drive offers average storage space but much higher speed than a regular SATA hard drive, with shorter loading times of files, apps and programs. DVD/CD drive is not included on this laptop if you wish to play the games from DVD.
15.6″ Full HD diagonal non-touch anti-glare screen has the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for a vibrant display with crisp visuals, clear texts and vivid colors. And with the IPS panel you can view the screen comfortably at up to 178-degree viewing angles. NVIDIA GTX 1050 with the 3GB dedicated graphics is a high-end graphics card with a video card benchmark score of 4768. Although the laptop model is a bit slower than the desktop version, you should be able to play the latest games at higher settings and FHD resolutions. Overall it is similar to GTX 965M dedicated graphics card in performance and about 30% higher than the GTX 960M.
Connectivity options include the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5, Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, HDMI output, Headphone/microphone combo jack, Multi-format SD Media Card Reader, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port , and a 1 USB 2.0 Type-A port with HP Sleep and Charge. This computer will feel super fast if you use it for Word, Excel, video 
streaming, Java based apps and any other non-gaming stuff. There is a HP TrueVision HD webcam with dual array microphone for chatting with friends and family and taking photos.
HP 15-EC0013DX Gaming Laptop has a great modern gaming laptop design, weighs 4.96 pounds and measures 14.2 x 10.1 x 0.9 inches and it is fairly slim for a gaming machine. The keyboard is backlit for easier use in the dark and is reported to feel very and comfy to type on. Touchpad has the scroll and multitouch capabilities. The build quality is better than average and great for the low price level. It is a very decent entry-level gaming machine that runs smoothly at all times with mid range to high end specs for gaming and non-gaming tasks. It offers excellent value for the buck.
