HP Envy x360 15.6″ FHD Touch, 15M-DR1012DX

HP Envy x360-15.6 FHD Touch - 10th gen i7-10510U

HP Envy x360 (15M-DR1012DX) is a recent release 2-in-1 convertible laptop with a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen and the latest generation powerful Intel i7-10510U processor for great performance in your daily tasks. It also has the large 512GB Solid State Drive + 16GB Intel Optane and 12GB memory, Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system, a fingerprint reader and a backlit keyboard.

The 10th generation quad core Intel i7-10510U processor with the hyper-threading (8-way processing) has a Passmark benchmark score of 9665 at the moment for fast and powerful performance overall. You can run several intensive apps smoothly at the same time with the power of this i7 processor at the speeds between 1.8 and 4.9 GHz and the 12GB of memory. The load times are much shorter with the 512GB SSD that lets you get into your files and boot up quickly.

It is accelerated by the 16GB Intel Optane H10 memory for even faster storage, opening of your files and frequent programs. Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system is pre-installed on this machine without much of a bloatware that you’d need to uninstall. The Intel i7-10510U is an ultra low voltage mobile CPU with a TDP of 15 watts for maximum energy efficiency and longer battery life from its 4-cell lithium ion battery for you to be away from the power outlets for up to an impressive 14-15 hours in mixed usage.

15.6-inch WLED-backlit Full HD multitouch IPS panel display and the built-in Intel HD 620 graphics card offer you an immersive graphics experience. You have the great visuals of vibrant colors, clarity and good contrast when you’re streaming videos, browsing the internet or playing games. You can expect an overall performance of somewhere between the NVIDIA GeForce 910M and 920M graphics cards. Please note that this is not a gaming laptop and you can play some of the latest games, but at the reduced settings and resolutions.

HP Envy x360 weighs 4.52 pounds with the measurements of 14.1 x 9.7 x 0.7 inches, so it is only 0.7 inches thick and lightweight, partly because the DVD Drive is omitted. You have the familiar Start menu of the Windows 7 screen and new stuff like the Cortana Personal Assistant and Microsoft Edge web browsers that lets you mark up web pages right on your screen. Wi-Fi 6 Gig+(2×2) offers almost 3 times the speed of a regular WiFi 5 technology and enhanced reliable and flexible performance for more devices.

You also have the Bluetooth, an HDMI output for connecting to external displays, SD Media Card Reader, a Headphone/microphone combo jack, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port (Data Transfer Only), a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port (HP Sleep and Charge), and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port. With the HD webcam with dual array microphone on the top bezel you can chat with your friends and family on Skype. You have the option to disable the camera with a switch on the side of the laptop.

You can use this functional and versatile computer in tablet, presentation, tabletop, audience and laptop modes with its 360-degree rotating flip and fold design. Keyboard is RGB backlit and allows you to type accurately in the dark or dim light. With the fingerprint reader you can sign into the system quickly without typing a password. This is a very fast, reliable and powerful 2-in-1 laptop for pretty much everything other than advanced gaming and multimedia video editing. You can surf the internet on several browsers, watch movies or Youtube videos, work on Office apps like Word, Excel, Powerpoint, edit photos, listen to music and more. Other than the low volume speakers and the lack of a dedicated GPU, we can’t see anything wrong with this machine at the price it is offered.
