HP 15-f305dx is a simple, lightweight and efficient laptop with low to mid-range specs at a budget price with a quad core AMD A-Series Kabini A6-5200 accelerated processor (2MB L2 cache) at 2GHz speed without turbo boost or hyper threading as it already has 4 cores, average but more than enough memory and hard drive- 4GB DDR3L SDRAM, 500GB SATA HDD at standard read and write times with 5400rpm rotating speed and Microsoft Windows 10 operating system with the new Edge browser, Cortona personal assistant and Windows 7 type start menu. It is good for both entertainment and work- personal use at home or for students doing research work etc. and if you don’t need the extra bells and whistles of an expensive computer then this may well be the right machine for you.

Black and elegant HP 15-f305dx weighs only 4.82 pounds with dimensions of 10.16 x 15.18 x 0.89 inches- thin and lighter in weight than an average 15 inch laptop and is good for travellers but feels a bit large due to the screen size. It has a 10 key numeric pad and an average feeling touchpad with right and left click buttons but you’ll always be better off with a USB mouse but the keys on island style keyboard enable comfy and accurate typing. Connectivity options include the DVD±RW/CD-RW optical drive, 802.11bgn wireless,10/100Mbps Ethernet with RJ-45 connector, an HDMI output to hook up with an HDTV or an external monitor using a good quality HDMI cable, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, Media Card Reader and Headphone output / Microphone input combo jack. 15.6 inch diagonal BrightView non-touch WLED backlight display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution does not offer the best picture quality with the highest resolution but it certainly does the job for the price point concerned and the colours are rich enough. AMD Radeon HD 8400 graphics which is like the faster version of the Intel HD 4000 and you can play the older casual games comfortably, HP TrueVision VGA webcam with built-in digital microphone for live chats with friends and family.

Conclusion: HP 15-f305dx is a decent quality and high performance laptop for the price. You won’t need to worry about upgrading from Windows 8 or 8.1 as Win 10 comes pre-installed and has an integrated DVD drive which is not very common these days. AMD A6-5200 has the Passmark benchmark score of 2422 and offers good performance in multiple threaded applications and is adequate for web browsing, sending mails, listening to music, multimedia, light gaming, Word, Excel and similar tasks. Thermal Design Power- TDP for the CPU is 25 watts and 3-cell 31Whr battery offers an average battery life of around 4 hours. Graphics card is not top of the range and will perform as good as integrated Intel HD 4000 so do not expect to do multimedia editing or play the latest games at high settings and resolutions. This is a laptop computer you would consider if you are on a budget and appears to be a good choice too. 4GB memory is expandable up to 8GB if you need better multitasking but for the average use of the above mentioned tasks will not require more than 4GB, so this is up to you. Overall this is not an outstanding but a good computer for the price and will run smoothly and quickly for your daily simple tasks.
