HP 15-BS031WM, 15.6” Laptop, i3, 4GB, 1TB
Silver HP 15-BS031WM (6UY82UA#ABA) is a recent- June 2019 release 15.6-inch budget priced stylish looking laptop with a regular HD display, and the reliable performance of the Intel i3 processor, 4GB memory and 1TB regular hard drive storage and long lasting battery.
The processor used on this HP is the ultra low voltage seventh generation dual core Intel i3-7100u (3MB cache) at 2.4GHz speed- two cores and four threads in parallel. It has a Passmark benchmark score of 3766 at the moment as a mid-range CPU that is good enough for basic to mid-range daily tasks. And the average thermal design power- TDP is 15 watts, that helps with the longer battery life.
4GB DDR4 SDRAM at 2133 Mhz- is more reliable and efficient, offers adequate amount of multitasking power at this level with a higher bandwidth. And 1TB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400rpm lacks the speed and snappiness of Solid State Drives that are available on a lot of laptops these days, even if in small amounts. But at this budget price level it offers a much larger storage space to compensate. This HP Laptop comes with the Windows 10 Home pre-installed and is the most preferred Windows version these days.
The 15.6-inch diagonal WLED-backlit SVA BrightView has the 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. It comes with the HP Fast Charge feature that lets you charge the battery from 0 to 50% in roughly 45 minutes, when the laptop is powered down. The built-in graphics card is the Intel HD 620 that offers performance levels of somewhere between the dedicated NVIDIA 910M and 920M graphics cards. You can play some of the less demanding games of 2018 and 2019 in low settings and resolutions. It has a PassMark benchmark score of 930 that puts it in the mid-range category of GPUs.
The silver HP 15-BS031WM is a fairly modern looking laptop and weighs 4.52 pounds and measures 14.96 x 9.99 x 0.94 inches. It doesn’t come with a DVD Optical Drive but the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.2, an HDMI output, a USB 2.0 port, 2 x USB 3.1 gen 1 for data transfer only, an RJ-45 Ethernet connection, a headphone/microphone combo and a multi-format SD Media Card Reader. It has a reasonable quality HD webcam and dual front-facing speakers. The battery life 
of the 4-cell 41 Wh lithium polymer battery is up to 10 hours and 45 mins in mixed usage, 9 hours for video playback and 7.5 hours for wireless streaming.
When you first turn it on you’ll install all the updates and you may want to remove all the junkware by HP that you won’t need. The screen is fine with a regular high definition resolution and the same is valid for the quality of the webcam for your Skype chats or taking still shots. If you’ll be using it mainly for browsing the internet, you won’t have any problems as the internet connection is fast and videos will stream nicely. The keyboard feels smooth and there is a separate numeric pad on the right as well as two click buttons underneath the trackpad. It seems to be a good value laptop for the dollar and it will be more than enough as long as you won’t run the advanced engineering or multimedia editing programs or play the latest advanced games.
