You will find the four versions of these Gigabyte A5 computers and the one we’re reviewing has a 15.6” display with Ryzen 7 RTX 3060 graphics card (A5 K1-BUS2150SB). You also have the 15.6-inch A5 X1-CUS2130SB with the Ryzen 9 5900X and RTX 3070, 15.6-inch A5 X1-CUS2130SH with the same specs & Windows 10 and the larger 17.3-inch screen A7 K1-BUS1150SB with Ryzen 7 Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 graphics.
Quarter one of 2021 release octa-core AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor (16 threads with hyper-threading) works at the speeds between the clock speed 3.2GHz and the turbo speed of 4.4GHz. With a very impressive average CPU Passmark benchmark score of 21457 it can handle whatever you throw at it, including your day to day and very demanding tasks. The typical TDP- Thermal Design Power is 45 watts and helps with the reasonable amount of energy consumption. But the battery life is only 2 to 3 hours max when you’re gaming etc. even in the power saving mode.
16GB DDR4 SDRAM is a good amount of memory for multitasking efficiently and lets you have a few apps and browser tabs working at the same time without experiencing lagging or freezing. 1TB PCIe Solid State Drive offers great speed that lets you open files and start the machine very quickly. It supports multiple storage or hard drives and the dual channel (2 x 8GB) RAM is also upgradeable. Windows 11 Home operating system is pre-installed on this gaming machine and has an even more user-friendly interface with the taskbar in the centre and rounded corners like on Mac OS.
15.6-inch thin bezel Full HD IPS anti-glare LED-backlit display has the 1920 x 1080-pixel resolution, good contrast and vibrant colors, 178-degree viewing angles and 240Hz refresh rate. Sound quality is decent through the stereo speakers and the NAHIMIC 3D Audio for Gamers. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs on these laptops offer 1560 MHz boost and 140-watt maximum graphics power. RTX 3060 has
a video card benchmark score of 16979 at the moment and with a performance similar to the previous generation RTX 2070 it lets you play the demanding, modern games at the high settings and resolutions.
There is no DVD Optical Drive and the connectivity options include the 802.11ax Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB 3.2 gen 1 (Type-A) ports, a USB 2.0 Type A port, a microphone jack, a headphone jack, a DC-in jack, an HDMI 2.0 with HDCP, a Mini DisplayPort 1.4, and DisplayPort 1.4 over USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type-C). It has an all-zone of single coloured backlit keyboard with the 15 colors LED setting with a numeric keypad on the side for easier number crunching. It is a very good laptop for the price but without the premium materials like a metal chassis etc. Gigabyte A5 K1 weighs 4.68 pounds and measures 10.15 x 14.21 x 1.36 inches and is relatively lightweight and portable for a very capable gaming machine.
