Dell Inspiron 15.6-inch i15RVT-3809BLK Touchscreen Review

Dell Inspiron i15RVT-3809BLK Touch Laptop

Dell Inspiron i15RVT-3809BLK 15.6-inch notebook is one of the new entries into Dell's great budget line of computers designed for daily use at home, school or work. It is as slim as the other Dell laptops, has a separate numeric keypad, fit for some gaming, has a clear display with vibrant colors, is fast and powerful and even has a responsive touchscreen!

Intel Pentium-2127U processor at 1.9 GHz speed (2M cache and the speed can go up to 2.6 GHz) combines efficiency for day to day computing and little power usage, 4 GB DDR3L 1DIMM SDRAM at 1600MHz is more than sufficient for being able to run several apps at once and the 500 GB at 5400 rpm rotating speed hard drive is a generous amount of space for file storage purposes. A pre-installed Windows 8 operating system is a given these days, and you may go online and easily upgrade to the newer 8.1 free of charge.

15.6 inch HD 720p Truelife WLED Touch screen with 1366x768 max pixel resolution and Intel HD Graphics (UMA) offers the touch feature for you to do most things you do with a keyboard and a mouse. Touch screen is almost a must when using Windows 8 to move between apps easily. Even if you don't have a HDTV to connect to at home with its HDMI port, the screen on this computer is quite good with its cool picture quality. But you may be better off with a HDMI cable to view your videos on a larger screen in HD quality.

You won't find an optical drive on this model (and do many people actually need it these days?) but 802.11bgn wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB 3.0 ports for much quicker data transfer, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, media card reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, XD, MSPRO, MS, MMC), Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI port and a built-in webcam for Skype chats.

It looks modern and stylish- black matte with textured lid and palmrest and is between 1" and 1.31" thin, weighs just under 5lbs so it is fairly light and compact. Keyboard is ergonomic and comfy, with also a 10-key numeric keypad which makes data entry easier. The touchpad underneath the keys is well responsive, supporting multi-touch gestures.

Conclusion: There is not much wrong with the Dell Inspiron i15RVT-3809BLK if you look at it from a price to efficiency and features perspective: An overall great little daily basics computer with a solid build quality, a powerful processor and the contemporary looks. Don't expect to play the most advanced games or edit sophisticated multimedia but other than that, very nice! Dell generally makes good computers anyway.
