Toshiba Satellite L55-B5357 is a powerful all-purpose everyday things computer with speed and performance of a 4th generation i7 processor that is both versatile and affordable, with a slim profile and elegant looks, an ample storage space, convenient connectivity options, integrated security for extra protection, 15.6 inch diagonal high definition screen, long battery life and more.. It is a great computer for both work productivity and entertainment.

Toshiba Satellite comes with the dual core Haswell Intel Core i7-4510U processor at 2GHz base speed that moves up to 3.1GHz dynamically with turbo and has hyper threading for two cores to handle four threads in parallel to enable better usage of the processor, 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM for easy multitasking, 1 TB Serial ATA hard drive at 5400 rpm rotating speed as generous amount of space to store all your files and Windows 8.1 operating system. The i7-4510U is an ultra low voltage CPU with a Thermal Design Power of only 15W that helps with longer battery life and a Passmark benchmark score of 3981 on the day of this review.

15.6 inch diagonal HD TruBrite TFT Led-backlit display with 1366x768 pixel resolution and Mobile Intel HD graphics offers nice visuals (not like Full HD and it is not IPS for larger viewing angles though) and the system has the triple monitor support so you can share the screen with two other displays which can come handy for multitasking to get more done easily. The Intel HD 4400 graphics card is designed for ultra low voltage models so the performance is less than 4600 and 5000 but better than 4000 and can be compared to the dedicated graphics Radeon HD 7550M. Sound quality is superior with the rich and clear sound (deep bass and high volume) by DTS Studio Sound that adjust the integrated Skullcandy stereo speakers for the best audio performance and optimized sound for headphones. Then you have the HD quality webcam to chat on Skype or videoconference with colleagues.

White fusion finish in satin gold Toshiba Satellite weighs only 4.85 pounds and is 0.93 inch thick so it has a great slim design and a polished exterior. Truetype frameless keyboard is not backlit but has the comfy contoured keys, a 10-key numeric pad for easy data entry and a touchpad without the separate left and right click buttons, that is optimised for Windows 8.1 operating system. It has a DVD SuperMulti drive supporting 11 formats despite its slim profile and light weight (Not many computers come with DVD drives these days, and will make it easier to load software from DVD or listen to music from CDs or watch DVDs on the computer screen) as well as 802.11bgn wireless, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45 for fast and easy wired internet, 2 x USB 3.0 ports (one of them is Sleep and Charge so you can recharge the batteries of your devices when the machine is off or in hibernation), 1 x USB 2.0 port, HDMI with 4K Ultra HD output capability, a VGA output and an SD card slot.

Conclusion: Toshiba Satellite L55-B5357 PSKT4U-09J00G is a great laptop PC with advanced power without the high end gaming machine price tag. It has a beautiful design- sleek and modern, performs very well in daily or more complex tasks (photo and video editing and music) and multitask efficiently with the fourth generation April 2014 release i7-4510U processor with both turbo boost and hyper threading and 8GB memory, has a large 1024GB hard drive to fit in lots of songs, photos and videos.

We don’t have the information on battery life but it is reported to be quite long as this is an Energy Star certified PC and has an Ultra Low Voltage processor with a TDP of just 15 watts. and it even has an HDMI port that supports up to 4K UHD output. We do not have the laptop in front of us and the review is done according to info, expert and customer reviews online and it looks like one of this laptop’s strongest point is its amazing sound quality. Windows 8 will always be criticised by many customers but this is not a hardware problem of this laptop and it is the OS on majority of PC’s these days, the keyboard isn’t backlit and touchscreen could be nice to use with Windows 8 but many people don’t really like touching their screens anyway and this is not a gaming machine as you would at least need a mid-range dedicated graphics card for it, but you can still play older games at higher and some newer titles at lower settings- performance is somewhat boosted by the power of Intel i7 processor and this is a great powerful entertainment centre.
