Black Toshiba Satellite C55-A5180 is a 15.6 inch low-cost notebook that is part of the latest Satellite C50 series.. C55-A5180 being a budget machine shouldn't ring any alarm bells though. You will find all that you need on a day-to-day basis, the necessary specs and features at quite an affordable price.

Toshiba Satellite C55 comes with an Intel Celeron 2.39GHZ dual core processor (1MB cache) at 2.39GHz speed, 4GB RAM SO-DIMM DDR3L at 1333 MHz for multitasking- running several apps and tabs at once smoothly and upgradeable to 8GB, 500GB Serial ATA-600 hard drive at 5400 rpm rotating speed for quick read/write times and as sufficient storage space for most computer users. The 64-bit version of the latest Windows 8.1 operating system with its extra user-friendly features comes pre-installed so you don't have to update it from Windows 8.

15.6" TFT high definition TruBrite 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen display with 1366 x 768 max screen resolution supports 720p display and is a LED-backlit bright display so it is more durable and uses less electricity and battery, but it is not a touchscreen- which shouldn't be expected at the price level anyway and not a must to use this system efficiently. Resolution+ transforms your standard- regular DVD content into better quality HD-like images that are more vivid and sharper. It has an integrated HD quality webcam and microphone for live chats with friends and family and videoconferences with work colleagues. The webcam also allows you to take good quality still photos. Sound is also rather satisfactory with its integrated stereo speakers and DTS sound, that is special to Toshiba computers.

Satin black in trax horizon Toshiba Satellite laptop weighs 5.3 lbs and has the dimensions of 15 x 9.50 x 1.40 inches, it is portable enough and should fit in a standard bag easily with its 15 inch screen as well. The full-size keyboard should allow you to type quickly and enter data easily with its 10-key numeric keypad on the right. Although this is not a full-on gaming machine, it has the convenient gaming commands on the keyboard. Touchpad underneath supporting multitouch gestures is also quite functional, letting you swipe, zoom, pinch and rotate through Windows 8.1 apps and photos. The 48 Wh 6-cell lithium ion battery lasts around 5 hours in average use, which is a decent amount of battery life for a computer this affordable.

There is no Bluetooth on this one but a Bluetooth USB dongle costs only a few pounds or less. You will find Ethernet 100Base-T with RJ-45 connector, high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g/n), 2 x USB 2.0 Ports, 1-USB 3.0 port for quick data transfers, Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive, Memory Card Reader to move files easily from your smart phone and digital camera, an HDMI port, a built-in microphone, a stereo headphone jack, an RGB port, a security cable lock slot and a media reader supporting different formats. We couldn't see a smart card reader slot.

Conclusion:Toshiba Satellite C55-A5180 is a budget computer of performance and power with features beyond its price level, with its 2.39 GHz speed processor, 4GB RAM system memory, DVD drive, USB 3.0 port, long battery life, bright display, DTS sound, full-size keyboard with 10-key numpad and gaming commands, responsive touchpad, HD webcam, nice looks and solid durable build. Highly recommended and not to be missed if you are on a budget and looking for something that will do the job.
