14 inch Touchscreen Lenovo IdeaPad S400
via Amazon

Here is a slim and light touchscreen laptop designed for productivity for daily tasks from Lenovo.. The Lenovo IdeaPad S400! With an Intel i3 processor, 14 inch touchscreen display to use with Windows 8.1's apps, bright screen, ergonomic keyboard and attractive modern looks. All without a high price from Amazon.com..

Intel Core i3-3217U ULV (3 MB Cache) processor at 1.8 GHz speed, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500 GB at 5400 rpm rotating speed hard drive.. Decent processor, good enough memory and storage space for an average computer user to work on their day-to-day tasks at home, school or work. But if you need even better performance to run AutoCAD or other memory sucking software, you may want to upgrade it to 8GB RAM and get a solid state drive to boot up faster as well.

Bright 14-Inch display is a touchscreen designed to be used with Windows 8 and 8.1, with a maximum resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and comes with the Intel HD 4000 Graphics card for sharp texts and vivid colors. You'll be satisfied with the quality of the sound too. Both the picture and audio are better than of the competitors.

I wouldn't want to comment on the Windows 8 as everyone has a different taste, some like it and others don't. You can upgrade it to the newer Windows 8.1- it is available for free on the Windows website for existing Win 8 users.

Lenovo IdeaPad S400 Review
It is a smaller laptop than the 15.6 inch models so the keyboard is slightly smaller too, although it is comfortable with soft keys and has a nice and responsive touchpad for when you need a break from the touchscreen.

Silver grey Lenovo Ideapad is light and slim: 5.5 lbs and 0.90 inch thick, so it is quite portable as it also doesn't have a DVD drive. Battery life is around 4 hours in average use from its lithium ion battery. Some of the connectivity options include 802.11bgn wireless, 2 x USB 2.0 Ports, 1 x USB 3.0 Port, 1 x Audio-out Port and an HDMI port to connect to larger screens.

Conclusion: Lenovo IdeaPad S400's main selling points are its quality build along with Lenovo innovation, nice looks and having a touchscreen and a decent processor. If you are looking for a quality laptop under $500 mark and plan to use it for usual computing tasks, this is a great computer to have. It doesn't have a DVD drive but not many people need it these days? Well worth checking out on Amazon.com.
