Pros & Cons:
Pros: Powerful gaming machine - 16 GB Ram - TouchSmart PC with multi-touch gestures - CoolSense technology to adjust the temperature - Sound quality

Cons: Keyboard could be a bit more user friendly - Screen could be a little sharper but nice enough

Hewlett Packard- HP is a very good brand for computers- especially laptops and HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000 Quad Edition is a great model with a 4th generation i7 Intel Core processor, 16 GB Ram and a 1920x1080 HD screen resolution. At first glance, it looks like the old Macbook Pro with its solid metal frame.

Image and Graphics: This HP Envy laptop has a GeForce GT740M graphics card installed, with which you can do great things. Although a bit reflective- you can sometimes see yourself on the screen, images are sharp.

Screen and Touch navigation: It is a TouchSmart PC so you can use the multi-touch gestures for navigation. It is fun to navigate Windows 8's large buttons on the screen. 15.6" large screen allows you to work better with the touch navigation than the usual small 13" ultrabooks.

Sound is quite nice and clear for a laptop. The speakers perform well, managing deep bass notes easily, unlike many other models in the market.

Speed: It takes about 17 seconds to start and 28 seconds to restart the laptop, due to probably the 5400rpm hard drive.

It comes with a card reader, an HDMI port, three USB ports, headphone jack, Ethernet port on the left and right sides of the keyboard.

Weight and Thickness: It weighs about 2.5 kgs, a bit heavier than your thin and fragile ultrabooks in the market but it certainly feels solid and well-built with a metal frame. It is still only about 3cm thick- including the screen.

Noise: It comes with CoolSense technology to adjust the temperature in laptop depending on the tasks performed. It generates a little bit of heat but not much and CoolSense looks after that.

Gaming: HP Envy is quite a capable and powerful gaming machine with sharp images and it doesn't seem to struggle at all when the softwares are running.

Batteries: With six-cell Li-lon batteries, battery life is about 4.5 hours at normal brightness settings. It recharges pretty quickly, in about 1.5 hours.

Heat: The HP Envy does not seem to heat up much as it is thicker than the usual thin ultrabooks, as you don't have direct contact with the warm parts of the laptop.

Conclusion: HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j000 Quad Edition is a solid, well-built and powerful laptop with a 4th generation i7 processor and 16GB Ram that is quite capable of meeting most customers' needs even as a gaming machine.
