15.6 inch HP 2000-2d65NR
via Amazon

Classically goodlooking in glossy winter blue HP 2000-2d65NR is an affordable computer with a cool graphic design. It features an Intel Ivy Bridge 2.4Ghz dual-core i3 CPU and a 15.6 inch HD LED screen. This HP seems to offer the right balance of quality and affordability. By the time I am writing this review, Amazon seems to have a good deal, offering a 28% discount with free shipping. So have a look and see if you like it.

3rd generation Intel Core i3-3110M at 2.4 GHz speed (3 MB Cache), 4 GB DDR3L SDRAM memory and 500 GB 5400 RPM SATAHard Drive + 25GB lifetime cloud storage plus sync from Box for free.. Processor is responsive and quick with its 3MB cache and offers decent performance for everyday use, with the help of 4GB memory (can be expanded to 8GB) and 500GB storage, that are both adequate too.

It has a 15.6 inch size screen, which is probably the most common and ideal size for portability and ease of use. It is a diagonal HD BrightView LED-backlit display at 1366 x 768 pixel resolution with Intel HD graphics 4000. Sound quality is quite good through the Altec Lansing dual speakers.

Operating system is the Windows 8 that can be upgraded to 8.1 easily online. It would be nice to have a touchscreen to use Windows 8 with but at this price range, you probably can't get everything. The keyboard doesn't have a numeric keypad, so this leaves more space for the rest and everything seems to be centered. Touchpad is also right in the middle and easy to use.

HP Imprint glossy finish in winter blue HP2000 weighs just 5.4 pounds and is 1.41 inch thick. Its 6-cell 47WHr lithium-ion battery gives you up to 4 hrs and 30 mins of battery life in single charge. It is an Energy Star qualified system.

Connectivity options include 802.11bgn wireless, 3 x USB 2.0 Ports, SuperMulti CD/DVD burner, 1 x Audio-out Port, 1 x VGA port, HP TrueVision HD Webcam, built-in media card reader, 1 RJ-45 (LAN), 1 Headphone-out, 1 Microphone-in and an HDMI port.

Conclusion: On the negative side, HP 2000-2d65NR doesn't have a touchscreen to use with Windows 8, nor any USB 3.0 ports- all 3 USB ports it has are USB 2.0s. The processor is good for everyday use and some gaming and multimedia- you can play games like World of Warcraft without any problems. It looks great for an affordable laptop at a low end price and the case feels solid. So it is a good one for most computer users, but if you need something with a faster processor, bigger memory and hard drive you need to pay more. So if you think this is something you're looking for and would like to take advantage of the current Amazon discount..
