HP 15-ac121nr is a 2016 model redesigned laptop with a Full HD display, ultra low voltage dual core Skylake Intel i5-6200U processor (3MB L3 cache) with turbo boost at clock frequencies of 2.3GHz up to 2.8 GHz and hyperthreading for dual cores to work with four threads in parallel, large 8GB DDR3L SDRAM memory (1 DIMM) at 1600MHz that can be expanded up to 16GB by simply putting in another 8GB stick which won’t be necessary for the majority of users and 1TB SATA hard drive at 5400rpm and the newest Windows 10 64-bit Home operating system pre-installed so it appears to be very good value with its decent set of features, nice design and enhanced productivity and low price tag. Sixth generation Intel i5 can handle usual multimedia and office and more complex tasks with a Passmark benchmark score of just over 3900 as a high mid range CPU (Previous version i5-5200U scores around 3500 so there is a bit of a performance difference).

One of the best features of this computer is the 15.6 inch Full HD antiglare WLED-backlit display has the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for great visuals- sharp, clear and vibrant with wide viewing angles and 16:9 image aspect ratio and the integrated Intel HD 520 graphics card is good enough for general multimedia but not for serious gaming. Stereo speakers enhanced by DTS Studio Sound offer rich and clear sounds as well as dynamic nuances for movies and music and includes a HP TrueVision HD webcam for your casual Skype video chats. Other simple selection of ports include Bluetooth 4.0, 10/100Mbps Ethernet with RJ-45 connector, an HDMI output, a USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports that you can connect different peripherals, a DVD+RW Optical Drive, a standard Media Card Reader and Combo Audio jack. Battery life is 7 hours according to the key product specs on Amazon.com but that would be at reduced lighting and less energy consuming tasks, on average you can still expect 5 to 6 hours of performance before recharging it.

HP 15-ac121nr Full HD Laptop Review

Brushed pattern in turbo silver HP 15-ac121nr looks sleek and clean, has a fingerprint resistant cover, weighs 4.83 pounds and is 0.96 inch thick (15.13 x 10.02 x 0.96 inches), meaning it is portable and with battery life up to 7 hours you can be out and about longer. You can’t really have an SSD at this price point and at least you’re given a very large 1TB mechanical drive at 5400rpm speed which is slower than 7200 rpm and you can replace this mechanical drive with an SSD if you want more speed. If you want to play advanced games at higher settings and resolutions with good frame rates per second, you will need a decent dedicated GPU and this is not the machine for you and you do need to spend a lot more for a reasonable gaming laptop. Keyboard is not backlit and the wireless connection is not the newer 802.11ac but the 802.11bgn which is still fast- minor flaws considering all that you’re being offered. Overall HP 15-ac121nr is a very good value laptop for very decent computing performance at a budget price: 6th generation Intel i5, 8GB memory, 1TB hard drive and Full HD display are normally found in more expensive machines. And you have the long battery life, great sound quality and a variety of connectivity options.
