HP 110-430 Desktop with Celeron J1800
via Amazon

HP 110-430 is a back to basics September 2014 release desktop PC with the entry level Celeron processor, 4GB RAM and hard drive with 7200rpm speed for adequately competitive power and speed for daily routine tasks like internet surfing, checking emails, using social media, word processing, streaming media, preparing school assignments and is suitable for students or anyone on a budget and want something low cost yet that will do the job- as long as they are not looking to edit complex multimedia or play the latest games.

HP 110-430 desktop comes with the dual core Intel Celeron J1800 processor (1 MB cache) at 2.41 GHz base speed, 4GB DDR3L SDRAM at 1333 MHz (1 x 4 GB) that is sufficient to multitask efficiently and is expandable to 8GB on 2 DIMMs- memory slots if needed, 500 GB hard drive at 7200 rpm rotational speed and Windows 8.1 operating system with Bing 64 that is just the standard Windows 8.1 with update 1- the only difference being the PC maker will not be able to change the default search engine from Bing but the user can. 5400rpm is the standard for majority of desktops or laptop hard drives and this machine comes with a 500GB HDD (should be adequate for most computer users) at 7200rpm rotating speed which offers faster read and write times.

The upgrade from 4GB RAM to 8GB is easy and not expensive at all if you need more system memory but 4GB is plenty for basic daily computing anyway, especially with the difference of speed you will feel of 7200rpm hard drive. Celeron J1800 is a 2013 release power efficient processor with a thermal design power of just 10 watts, with turbo boost function that takes the speed from 2.41 to 2.58 GHz but no hyper threading but we’re talking about an entry level CPU that focuses on less power use without sacrificing performance and at this price level, it does the job just fine as long as you won’t be using it for complex programs or current games, as the graphics card is the integrated Intel HD Graphics (Bay Trail) so expect to play older titles like Half-Life 2 at low settings but not most of the latest games.

HP 110-430 Desktop Review
Black HP 110-430 weighs 11.93 pounds with measurements of 15.14 x 6.50 x 14.33 inches and has a modern simplistic design that will blend nicely into any room. It comes with a wired mouse and keyboard with volume control but naturally not a display- you will need to get it separately. Connectivity options include 16x SuperMulti DVD Burner optical drive, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, 1 x USB 3.0 port, 1 x Audio-out port, 7-in-1 Multimedia card reader to share videos and photos, Ethernet 10/100BASE-T with RJ-45, DVI-D and VGA ports (you may use dual monitors), 1 x Headphone/microphone combo and 1 mini PCIe x0.5 Expansion slot. There is no direct HDMI port (you’ll need an adapter), no wireless and no mention of Bluetooth so you may want to get an inexpensive USB WiFi dongle and a USB Bluetooth dongle with the purchase of this PC.

Conclusion: HP 110-430 (J4W31AA#ABA) is a small, reliable, economical and low performance desktop with a clean modern and streamlined design for daily computing- everyday use- listening to songs, streaming videos, browsing the internet, shopping online, doing homework, working on spreadsheets but not for performing any advanced graphics tasks nor playing the 3D games- not a full feature gaming rig for sure. You will find quite a bit of unneeded junkware pre-installed that you normally see on HP computers and will probably want to remove them first for also better and faster overall performance. It is Energy Star qualified and EPEAT Silver registered, comes with a 1 year limited hardware warranty and software support as well as technical customer support 24x7- toll-free or online. It comes with certain limitations and entry level specs and features overall but for the price you’re paying you’ll be hard pressed to find better for the dollar on the market. So it will come down to how much money you want to spend and what you will use the computer for.
