Silky gray Gateway LT41P04u laptop is the first 10.1 inch HD touchscreen in a very light and slim package. It is something between a netbook and a notebook with specs similar to a Chromebook, but is a Windows 8 computer. It is designed for those with active social lives that need something really mobile. Low price tag and now discounted on Amazon.com too.
It has modest and humble yet sufficient components for a computer this size, such as Intel Celeron N2805 processor at 1.46 GHz (1 MB L2 Cache), 2 GB DDR3L SDRAM and 320 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive. Both memory and hard drive are plenty really, for home and school use and for when you are on the go.
One of the main highlights of this Gateway is its great quality frameless edge-to-edge 10.1-Inch HD LED backlit touch display supporting 10 finger touch with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and Intel HD Graphics with a Ram size of 128 MB. It is actually the first 10.1 inch HD Touch notebook in the market!
And it is a great match for the Windows 8 operating system's customizable tiles. You can also upgrade it to the new Windows 8.1 for free on the Microsoft Windows online store. You also get the Microsoft Office 2013 with the activation code included in the package. Sound quality is satisfactory through the two built-in stereo speakers and High-Definition audio support.
This Gateway's color is silky gray and has a nice look with its smooth rounded corners. Despite its small size at 2.4 lbs weight and 1.27 inch thickness, it comes with a good design comfortable keyboard and a nice multi-gesture touchpad. Lithium 3-cell Li-on battery fits nicely into the chassis and gives you up to 5 hour battery life.
On this compact package, you will find 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN, 2 x USB 2.0 Ports, HD Webcam (1280 x 720), 1- HDMI Port with HDCP support to connect to a big screen or external monitor, Secure Digital (SD) card reader and Bluetooth 4.0 to wirelessly connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, as connectivity options.
Verdict: Gateway LT41P04u is a laptop to consider if you have a limited budget and want to browse the web, listen to songs, watch movies, chat on Skype and do simple tasks on a daily basis. It will be basically fine for anything other than memory intensive graphics editing or latest 3D games. It is light, slim, efficient, fast, reliable, durable, nice looking and a good alternative to new Chromebooks. With a price hard to beat!
