Dell Inspiron i15RV-1333BLK 15.6 inch Laptop Review

Black Dell Inspiron i15RV-1333BLK

Dell Inspiron i15RV-1333BLK is a low cost but mid-range notebook designed for moderate users with a slim body and good looks, an Ivy Bridge Intel i3 processor, sufficient memory and hard drive, DVD drive, USB 3.0 ports, 10-key numpad and more to meet your everyday computing needs.

The Dell Inspiron has an Ivy Bridge Intel Core i3-3217U processor (3M Cache) at 1.9 GHz speed, 6 GB DDR3L SDRAM memory at 1600 MHz, 500 GB hard drive at 5400rpm rotating speed and Windows 8 operating system. The i3 is a dual-core processor without the turbo boost function but it works quickly and smoothly enough at moderate tasks as it comes with the hyperthreading technology (dual core as four threads). You'll even be able to play some more advanced games at lower settings.

6GB system memory is bigger than normal for a computer at this price level and it is more than adequate to run Microsoft Word and Excel smoothly at the same time, as well as a few browser tabs, while listening to music without causing you any problems nor heating up. Same argument is valid for its 500 GB hard drive as it is the standard size you'll find in laptops in budget to medium range, but it sure is enough as storage space for a regular computer user.

You won't need to upgrade the RAM or the hard drive if you'll use the computer for usual day-to-day tasks, but if you want faster boot-ups and overall even better performance, you can get an SSD and use the normal hard drive as an external device. This is not a touchscreen PC so Windows 8 is naturally what it is mainly criticized for by customers, but as often is the case Win 8 takes a little getting used to and is an OS as good as the previous one. Please go online and upgrade it to the more recent Windows 8.1 as you'll find some extra useful features.

15.6 inch WLED screen with Truelife at 1366x768 pixel max screen resolution supporting 720p image and Intel HD graphics offers decent and clear picture quality. Intel HD 4000 graphics and the size of the processor won't allow you to play the latest 3D games at higher settings but you'll be fine by making certain adjustments. Two speakers and Waves Maxx Audio 4.0 are what you get for good sound performance. Black Matte with textured palmrest and lid Dell Inspiron is only 1 inch thin and has a 4-cell lithium ion battery. The keyboard is a Dell Chiclet with 10-key numpad for efficient numeric data entry and a touchpad supporting multiple gestures. In terms of connectivity, you have the 8X DVD+/-RW optical drive, 802.11 bgn wireless, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45, Bluetooth 4.0, 8-in-1 media card reader, 2 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port.

Conclusion: Dell Inspiron i15RV-1333BLK is a laptop designed for an average computer user to perform their everyday tasks smoothly. It is not the one of those very most powerful gaming computers with the best processor or very high amounts of memory or hard drive space but it surely offers more than what it costs. The Intel i3 processor, 6 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive are great for most things you'd do on a daily basis. You will rarely encounter lags or freezing when you're running a few apps and tabs simultaneously. If you'd like even better performance, you can always get a Solid State Drive.
