MacBook Pro MF839LL/A is the early 2015 model 13.3 inch laptop with super sharp and clear Retina display, Broadwell Intel i5-5200 processor and 128GB flash drive. Like the 2014 models and the rest of the Apple laptop and desktop computer line, it is fast, powerful and runs cool but feels a bit faster and cooler than before. In its silver aluminium unibody design It looks the same as the previous Retina Pros, which should be fine considering how nice, slim and premium looking they are. So you have the same superior technology, innovation and design but the newer 5th generation i5 CPU, snappier SSD and Force Touch trackpad along with 10 hour battery life on average use for work and play. MF840LL/A is the same laptop with 256GB SSD and the MF841LL/A is the one with 512GB SSD and 2.9GHz i5 processor.

MacBook Pro MF839LL/A is offered with the dual core Broadwell Intel i5-5257U processor (3MB shared L3 cache) at 2.7 Ghz to 3.1 GHz speeds with turbo boost, 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM at 1866 MHz for multitasking of even the most complex and demanding apps and software, 128 GB PCIe-based flash storage for much faster performance and adequate storage space and if you need additional space you can upgrade it only at the time of your purchase or you’ll use Cloud based or external USB storage if and when needed, the latest OS X Yosemite as the world’s most advanced operating system. In daily tasks you won’t really notice much difference to the 2014 model in terms of overall performance but still has enough power for very demanding software and multitasking with the 8GB and the SSD on the 2015 model is twice as fast as the 2014 models.

13.3-inch QHD LED-backlit IPS Retina display with 2560 x 1600 pixel maximum screen resolution (well over 4 million pixels) means amazingly sharp and clear picture- brilliant visuals, rich detail, very vivid colours, very sharp texts and up to 178 degree viewing angles- great for watching movies, editing photos, web browsing and playing games. Graphics card is the new integrated Intel Iris 6100 graphics that is a little faster than the discrete GeForce 820M graphics card and should let you play the latest games at lower resolutions and settings so it is slower than the Intel Iris Pro 5200 you see on some of the 15 inch Macbook’s and the late 2013 iMac’s. Having said that the Intel Iris 6100 is quite a nice one with power to handle a variety of tasks like multimedia editing and some gaming and you will feel the difference of the faster SSD when you stream content directly from the internal storage. Sound quality is really good through the integrated stereo speakers- some of the best you will hear on any Macbook. It comes with the 720p resolution FaceTime HD webcam with the integrated dual array microphones so you can chat comfortably in HD quality on Skype or FaceTime.

13.3" Apple MacBook Pro MF839LL/A with Retina and MF840LL/A, MF841LL/A Review
Silver Apple MF839LL/A weighs 3.5 pounds with dimensions of 8.62 x 12.35 x 0.71 inches- very slim and lightweight but will come down to what you’re comparing it to, if you had an 11 inch Macbook Air before that one is lighter and slimmer but as compared to majority of 15 inch Windows laptops this one is more portable and 1 pound lighter than the non-Retina MBPro that is still on the market and will feel like a relief to carry around. It has an ergonomic full keyboard that is backlit to type comfortably in dark rooms, without the 10-key numeric pad but the pressure sensing Force Touch trackpad. Apple claims up to 10 hours of battery life from its lithium polymer battery on average use and a couple of independent tests by experts confirmed this to be true (it was 9 hours on 2014 Macbook Pro’s). There is no Optical drive on it but fast 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 x Thunderbolt 2 ports that double as miniDisplay ports for connecting to the latest displays and peripherals and get double bandwidth to them (compatible with the previous Thunderbolt), 2 x USB 3.0 ports for transferring data at much higher speeds, 1 x Audio-out port, a VGA port and an HDMI output.

Conclusion: Apple MacBook Pro MF839LL/A should be the model to choose over the 13 inch Macbook Air for better performance, power, better resolution QHD Retina display, more connectivity options but about half a pound heavier weight. What’s added to the 2014 model Macbook Pro is an hour more battery life, Force Touch Trackpad which may take a bit of getting used to, the 5th generation Intel i5 processor and faster Solid State Drive so if you will be using it for daily tasks it will be up to you to pay a little extra to get the latest model but the differences are not really noticeable- although it is a personal choice our opinion would be to always get the latest model of Apple computers unless you can get last year’s Retina Pro to 3-400 dollars less. We like the very high resolution display- even sharper than the FHD screens, very long battery life despite all this power and super quality display, faster Solid State Drive, 2 Thunderbolt ports, the latest Broadwell CPU and GPU and of course the amazing unibody aluminium design and on the other hand you can’t upgrade the flash drive and RAM later on- it needs to be done at the time of purchase and the 128GB may not be enough for some people so you may want to opt for a larger storage capacity when you get to the Amazon product page through the links on this review page and there is no direct Ethernet connection and it needs an adapter. It comes with a 1 year limited parts and labor warranty and you may of course get extra protection during your purchase of this computer.
