The AX51R2-1437BK is a powerful desktop with good quality components in a compact body and offers good performance levels, despite not being one of Alienware’s beefy powerhorse kind of gaming laptops. You’ll still be able to play the latest games at higher settings with the power of the upper class NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 graphics card. And it is not just about gaming either, it will handle the usual daily tasks very comfortably too.

The entry level gaming machine Alienware X51 comes with a dual core Haswell i3-4130 (3MB Cache) at 3.4 GHz speed without Turbo Boost but with Hyperthreading for smart four way processing of two cores, 6 GB DDR3L RAM (1x2GB and 1x4GB on two memory slots) at 1600 MHz, 1TB SATA HDD at fast 7200 rpm spindle speed and the 64-bit English Windows 8.1 operating system. This is not a very powerful quad core CPU but a lower cost dual core Intel Core i3-4130 which is still rather quick and has a low price tag- better performance than the similarly priced CPUs. The CPU speed is locked but very high at 3.4GHz for an Intel i3 CPU.

It is suitable for budget gaming or mainstream computing stuff as long as you use a good dedicated graphics card such as the GTX 745 on this one and it is a more energy efficient processor being both 4th generation and dual core. 6GB RAM is plenty for multitasking and the 1024GB hard drive at 50% higher rotating speed that appears to be an ample storage space. And the fact that you can easily upgrade these components manually by simply unscrewing the back part makes this system an attractive option. Windows 8.1 comes with additional functions and seems to be quite a stable platform for whatever you may want to do on the computer.

Alienware AX51R2-1437BK Desktop Review
It is a great advantage to have the Maxwell based mid-range NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 (with up to 4GB graphics memory) dedicated graphics card here that changes the whole story for you, it gives this machine a raw gaming appeal despite having an i3 processor rather than a quad core i5 or i7 processor. You’ll get to experience amazing visuals when whether you’re playing the latest 3D games, watching movies or editing multimedia- great video and audio content creation as you also have the superior Internal HD 7.1 Performance with Waves MaxxAudio.

Matte Stealth Black Dark Chrome Accent Alienware X51 has the measurements of 19.25 x 20.63 x 8.39 inches and has a great variety of connectivity options (most being at the rear) like Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner, an HDMI port, 6 x USB 3.0 ports (two at the front), 2 x USB 2.0 ports, DW 1506 Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/n/g/b/a wireless, Bluetooth 4.0 tied to wireless card, Gigabit Ethernet with RJ-45, Audio Line In, Audio Line Out, a DisplayPort, 2 x DVI ports, 7.1 mini-jacks, an S/PDIF optical output, Alienware Multimedia Keyboard and Alienware Optical Mouse, US Power Cord and 180W External Power Supply. What’s missing here is an SD Card Reader if you’ll need to use one. You get the 1 month Trial version of Microsoft Office, Cyberlink Media Suite Essentials and the redesigned Alienware Command Center software included.

Conclusion: Alienware AX51R2-1437BK is easy and quick to set-up on your flat screen TV or an external monitor as everything seems to be already installed, internet connection is fast, system looks great and seems to be well-built with good quality components, you get great customer service from Dell as well as a 12 month In-Home Warranty. In terms of negatives, you don’t have a Media Card Reader, the keyboard and mouse are both basic and plastic- don’t feel like the best quality but they are at least included (You won’t get a keyboard or mouse with a Mac Mini). Other than these small flaws, you have an overall fast, powerful and reliable computer with great graphics capabilities and superior audio.
