Acer 11.6" Chromebook 2 GB 16 GB
via Amazon

Acer C720-2802 is an 11.6 inch lightweight and small Chromebook with a 2 GB RAM and 16 GB SSD hard drive. It is created mainly for daily use of internet browsing, checking emails, playing songs, word processing and more.. This is a step up model with even a more compact case and longer battery life than the previous Chromebook C710. It is still very affordable, even more so with the refurbished model from Acer if you'd like to check out through the links on this page.

Processor is the modest Intel Celeron dual-core 2955U at 1.4GHz speed with an Intel HD graphics card and is sufficient for your daily tasks. It is a newer and more capable processor than the other Chromebooks that use tablet style processors though, with also the super low voltage that enables much longer battery life- more like 8 hours in this case. System memory is only a 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM (and this is the maximum you can have on this Chromebook) but again adequate to do multitasking for a computer this small. Just don't expect to play those 3D games or to edit multimedia.

It comes with a 16 GB Solid state drive that should allow faster boot ups and contribute to better functioning overall than a normal 5400 rpm SATA hard drive, but 10GB remaining SSD space is probably not enough to save all your files, so you take advantage of a web based cloud storage or an external flash drive. Operating system is the web based Google Chrome and functional enough and doesn't attract viruses like Windows OS.

Acer Chromebook C720-2802 Review
Acer C720 Chromebook has an 11.6 inch HD Widescreen LCD display with a matte coating at 1366 x 768 pixel resolution offers good image quality and the sound is fairly adequate through its stereo speakers. Keyboard is smaller than normal as you can imagine but comfy enough once you get used to its size. It doesn't have a lot going for it in the looks department but has received solid reviews in other ways since it came out on the market.

It is only 0.8 inch thick and weighs a bit under 2.8 pounds. With its 11.6 inch screen as well, it is quite portable and can fit pretty much in any bag. In terms of connectivity you have the 802.11 bgn wireless but no Ethernet port and no VGA port to connect to a larger monitor but you will find a HDMI port instead so you can connect it to your HDTV, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port which is way faster than a USB 2.0 especially if you use external drives and memory card reader, Bluetooth 4.0, an integrated SD crd reader, a simple webcam but no DVD drive as it would be hard to fit on this small machine.

Conclusion: Acer is one of the largest computer manufacturers in the world and it is not a well-trusted brand. Acer C720 Chromebook C720-2802 is a 2.76 lbs lightweight and compact laptop designed mainly for internet use. It is criticized for its sound quality - a bit tinny and dull-ish design but seems to be doing fine in other areas: Fast performance, quick start-ups, very long battery life, good connectivity options for its size and a very affordable price. You won't experience any connectivity options either and you can use the apps offline as well. So if you are comfy with a Chrome operating system compact laptop and not looking for a Windows OS one, this may be perfect for you as it seems to present great value for money.
